M5 - Westconnex Kingsgrove

PROJECT VALUE

$4.3 Billion

PROJECT STATUS

Completed November 2019

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The New M5 tunnel, part of the WestConnex program, was delivered by a joint venture of CPB, Dragados, and Samsung. The twin tunnels connect the existing M5 East at Kingsgrove to a new interchange at St Peters, doubling corridor capacity and significantly improving access to the Sydney CBD, Port Botany, and Sydney Airport precincts.

SCOPE OF WORKS

Carrabay was contracted for critical works at the Kingsgrove twin tunnel entrance. Our scope included the construction of capping beams, whaler beams, planks, walls, and the tunnel ground slab within the portal and cut-and-cover sections.

Successful delivery of this work required careful planning, precise logistical coordination, and close collaboration with the head contractor and adjacent project teams. Our proactive approach ensured all works were completed on schedule without compromising safety or quality.

Carrabay's workmanship and attention to detail were officially recognized by both the client and head contractor, ensuring the completion of all works as planned.
