M6 MOTORWAY STAGE 1: PREFABRICATED D-WALLS
PROJECT VALUE
$2.5 billion
DURATION
2022-2025
PROJECT OVERVIEW
M6 Stage 1 will link President Avenue in Kogarah with the M8 motorway, improving access between southern Sydney and the broader motorway network. This project will reduce congestion, enhance travel times and remove heavy vehicles from local roads.
The CPB Ghella Joint Venture is delivering the underground connection, which includes mainline tunnels, entry and exit ramps, shared pedestrian and cyclist pathways and provision for a future Stage 2 extension (pending planning approvals).
SCOPE OF WORKS
Carrabay was engaged by the CPB Ghella Joint Venture to deliver up to 7,000 tonnes of reinforced diaphragm wall (D-wall) cages for the M6 Stage 1 project.
Our scope includes 3D modelling, shop drawing production, fabrication and transport of the cages to site over a 12-month program. Individual cages weighed up to 36 tonnes, with spliced units exceeding 70 tonnes.
We also deployed our Xpress service to supply reinforcement on demand, resolving shortfalls when pre-cut and bent steel was incorrectly supplied.
Carrabay managed both inbound and outbound logistics and operated on double shifts to meet strict program deadlines and quality expectations.
Our team supported works across three key structures on the project.
