PROJECT OVERVIEW

North Parkes Mines, a copper-gold operation near Parkes, NSW, is undertaking a Mine Life Extension project to continue operations until 2032. The project involves a continuation of block cave mining, development of new underground and open-cut resources, and new waste dumps. It also includes upgrades to site infrastructure, such as a new access road and parking, and continued use of existing processing facilities.

SCOPE OF WORKS

Carrabay was initially contracted by Forefront for the North Parkes Mine Expansion Project, specifically for the supply, fabrication, delivery, and installation of reinforcing steel for the Screen & Crusher Civil Construction, Stage 1. Our work covered multiple critical structures, including the footings and slabs for the Screen and Crusher buildings, as well as several associated sumps and sheds.

After Forefront's departure from the project, North Parkes Mines directly contracted Carrabay to complete the remaining formwork, reinforcement, and concrete pour (FRP) of these structures. We successfully completed the full scope, demonstrating our ability to manage the project to completion.

Despite the challenging underground environment, Carrabay maintained a strong focus on safety and quality. Our performance led to a positive working relationship with the client, who complimented our team on the successful and safe delivery of the project.
