PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Mascot Vertical Transport Project, a key part of the MTMS program, aims to boost the capacity and accessibility of Mascot Station. The project includes a new subterranean western entrance on Bourke Street, featuring four new escalators and one new lift from street level to the concourse. Additional works involve a tiered seating canopy and extensive streetscape upgrades.

SCOPE OF WORKS

Carrabay is contracted by Delta Group to undertake all formwork, reinforcement, and concreting (FRP) works for the new entrance structure. Our role involves the precise construction of critical structural elements across multiple levels.

Our detailed scope includes:

• Capping Beam, Corbel, and Ground Floor Slab:

  • Construction of the reinforced concrete capping beam.
  • Installation of blinding concrete for the corbel and ground floor slab.
  • Building the reinforced concrete corbel with dowel fixings to the existing station roof, including neoprene/polystyrene strips.
  • Construction of the reinforced concrete ground floor slab, including stormwater piping.

• Upper Concourse Slab:

  • Construction of three reinforced concrete pilasters connected to the diaphragm wall.
  • Installation of blinding concrete for the Upper Concourse Slab and escalator pits.
  • Building the reinforced concrete Upper Concourse slab and beams, including the supply and installation of Bondek, anchor joints, and other components.
  • Construction of reinforced concrete Upper Concourse escalator pits and a mesh-reinforced topping slab.

• Basement Slab and Pits:

  • Installation of blinding concrete for both the basement slab and the lift/escalator pits.
  • Construction of the reinforced concrete basement slab and beams, including galvanised corrugated steel ducting and dowel connections to the existing diaphragm wall.
  • Building the reinforced concrete lift and escalator pits with HVU anchor connections and grouting hoses.
  • Construction of the reinforced concrete corbel wedges (CB10 and W4).

• Above-Ground Structure:

  • Construction of a mesh-reinforced concrete protection slab over the water main.
  • Building reinforced concrete nibs, walls (LW1 & W6), columns (C11 & C12), and beams (CB18) for the tiered seating area.
  • Construction of the reinforced concrete stairs, including block-outs for handrails.
  • Supply and installation of the SB23 steel beam and the 150mm thick slabs for the tiered seating area.
